In 1957, after serving in the U.S. Army and working for numerous companies, Rudy Teichman established T&T Marine Ways, Inc., a small shipyard at the end of Teichman Point in Galveston, Texas. It consisted of a machine shop, a small dredge boat, and a marine railway used for hauling out shrimp boats and other small vessels. In 1960 Rudy bought a small wooden tug named "Josephine". He refloated it, then rebuilt it, and "Tug Josephine, Inc." was formed to provide marine towing services to the area.
Hurricane Carla struck Galveston Island in 1961, destroying the shipyard. Rudy started over and by 1964 he was expanding, hiring more employees, and building bigger, better facilities as well as vessels. Recognizing a need for salvage equipment along the Texas Coast, Rudy started T&T Marine Salvage, Inc. Using little more than ingenuity and experience he raised sunken boats and barges. In 1976, he bought a steam crane with a capacity of 75 tons for heavy lift work.
Over the years Rudy, with the help of his wife Donna, have built the companies from the ground up with an emphasis on top notch service and equipment, Today T&T Marine Salvage owns and operates a 600-ton Derrick Barge, a 350-ton Derrick Barge, a 235-ton Crane Barge, a 150-ton Crane Barge, and a full range of pumps and other support equipment.
T&T Marine's salvage, wreck removal, and heavy lift operations are complimented by it's spill response and lightering capabilities. Registered with the State of Texas as a DCO and classified by the Coast Guard as an OSRO, T&T Marine owns a large inventory of response equipment, including two large Oil Spill Recovery Vessels, "Clean Channel 2" and "Clean Channel 3".
"Tug Josephine" owns and operates a fleet of five push boats ranging in size from 800 HP to 1,200 HP. "T&T Marine Ways" offers a 1,000-ton marine railway, fabrication shop, machine shop, and dock facilities, "T&T Offshore" maintains a launch service with three 110' crewboats and a dock facility to service the shipping industry. "T&T International Fire & Salvage" has professional marine firefighting crews and equipment capable of responding to marine fires anywhere in the world.
The company has expanded out of the Gulf of Mexico and now offers its service worldwide. T&T owns state of the art portable equipment capable of being dispatched anywhere in the world on a moments notice. The equipment is packaged so it can be easily transported by air, land or sea. With 15 locations in the U.S, Europe and Asia, T&T can respond immediately to an emergency.
Over the years Rudy, with the help of his wife, Donna, have built the companies from the ground up, with an emphasis on service, specialized equipment and safety. Together they have built one small company into the companies they are today. The dedication, integrity and pride they take in their work have been passed on to their children in hopes that one day their grandchildren, the fourth generation of Teichman’s in the business,  will carry on the long family tradition.
